Laughter is the best medicine and a powerful antidote to stress, pain, grief and conflict. <p>Phew - what a Winter! But you may not have noticed the gloomy weather if you&rsquo;ve been a regular visitor to Pomeroy&rsquo;s lately. Extraordinary hustle and bustle around here! All through the dark nights, the kitchen&rsquo;s been cracking along and the Mid-Winter Xmas banquets have gone off big time &ndash; so much so Ava&rsquo;s dad, Des, and his wife, Jo, came down for a visit and to help out. Back in June &lsquo;Meet The Brewers&rsquo; was an occasion to remember (if you can) for the opportunity to taste hand-pulled Oyster Stout and to rub up against many of the geniuses responsible for your favourite brews. Put it this way, they were very genial! In July and August, well-attended wine and beer tastings were notable for the extravagance of both their food and drink, and many of you have been raving about the live music line-up of late. Pomeroy's Update June - August 2009

<p>Who says winter is boring? Entertainments in Christchurch this year will be huge! June sees the Lyttleton Harbour Festival of Lights, a mid-winter light spectacular, and the ultimate sporting theatre&mdash;All Blacks v Italy&mdash;right here at AMI Stadium. In July catch the fastest show on earth &lsquo;Starlight Express&rsquo;, the entire school holidays are chock full of Kid&rsquo;s Fest fun, and then begins the 8th Biennial Christchurch Arts Festival&mdash;two weeks of theatre, dance, music, cabaret, circus and visual arts. August rounds off with the NZ Grand National Racing Carnival at Riccarton Park. Cooo!</p>

Pomeroy's Update November - January 2009<p>Spring - a season of accelerated growth in more ways than one, don't you think? Weather wise, it got off to a pretty mild start with more sunshine and less rain than is usual but then we experienced some wild extremes from days of hot nor'westers to the odd bit of snow and frost.
